TITLE : Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Lead Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor
PURPOSE: Under direction of the Lead Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises maintenance and repair of WeGo fixed route and paratransit buses and other vehicles and equipment in an assigned location and shift; performs quality control checks to ensure the safety and reliability of assigned buses and vehicles. The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct supervision and management of the Mechanics, Mechanic Specialist, A Repairmen, General Helpers and Laborers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that all vehicles are maintained in clean, safe, operable condition and that Revenue Vehicles meet daily peek pull out
- Reviews equipment records and schedules maintenance repairs
- Supervises all mechanics and other maintenance workers on assigned shift
- Decides work to be completed on shift
- Assigns work to mechanics according to level of skill and experience
- Provides instruction and technical assistance to mechanics, as necessary
- Decides proper response to road call requests
- Assures compliance with the labor agreement
- Enforces proper safety procedures
- Corrects mechanics and other maintenance workers and makes recommendations to the Lead Supervisor for disciplinary action, when necessary
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of maintenance workers
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
- Coordinates, arranges, and supervises, or provides for the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations
- Reports maintenance issues to buildings and grounds and provides a summary of maintenance recommendations to Facilities Maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to established safety, training, and quality assurance programs.
- Stays current on new technology in the Automotive and in the Transit Industry.
- Responds to and operator field reports and road calls.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Attend training classes as required
- Perform other job-related duties, as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: or EDUCATION and/or Experience
- Prefer at least five years of increasingly responsible fleet maintenance and repair experience in a public transit agency; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- The job requires a minimum of a two (2) year degree or certification from a technical or community college, two (2) years of experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle mechanics, and three (3) years of management and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Any combination of experience/education/training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work or successful completion of appropriate practical test for internal maintenance employees.
- Possess a valid TN Driver’s License.
- This is a Safety Sensitive position subject to all testing provisions under the Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug and alcohol testing. The person selected for this position may be required to be tested prior to being awarded the job.
- Additional licenses, certifications, and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the employing unit may be required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Occasional to Medium sitting, working at a workstation, intermittent with all other activities.
- Occasional walking, typically no more than 100 yards at one time, and mostly within work area, intermittent with standing, sitting, and all other activities.
- Occasional climbing of steps.
- Frequency of all the above may vary, as individual has a degree of ability to modify work activity to correspond with any disability-imposed limitations.
- Position works in an environment where there is exposure to dust, noise, and temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include, dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals.
